Does the model cover ports?
No. The model only covers harbors. We chose to avoid ports because other models, such as the MARAD model, handle ports well.

Can I use negative numbers?
Not in the interface. The interface screens perform a number of error checks, one of which is to check for negative numbers. If you're evaluating a harbor expansion that involves eliminating slips in certain size categories, you'll have to use the long way of calculating changes, i.e., running the model for the original and proposed designs, then finding the difference.

When will the model be updated?
The model was created under contract with Alaska DOT&PF. No improvements or updates are planned unless funding is available. If you are interested in seeing the model updated, please contact the Ports and Harbors staff at ADOT&PF.
